about

Stay is the soundtrack for the drunken late night phone calls and waking up lonely on a Sunday morning. Written by Kylie Price and Will Henderson, Stay was brought to life in the Apra studios at Parachute Studios between lockdowns in 2021. Whilst its pop melodic riffs and bouncy production work creates a light, toe tapping vibe - the underlying tone of loneliness is evident and what of ourselves we will sacrifice to fill the void, however temperamental. Stay narrates the actions of two individuals with the “no strings attached” mantra - however as the song progresses, sheds light on the truth that someone always gets attached and someone always gets hurt.

lyrics

Stay lyrics

I know it’s late
You call me up again you say you’re drunk
I can hear your friends in the background acting dumb,,
They know what’s up
They’ve heard this song before
Its the same song you always seem to sing
And I’m the girl who can’t help but listen in
We never change, we’re hopeless.

I don’t usually say this out loud x 2

But sometimes. I wonder

You only call me in the evening
You only call me when the daylight starts to fade
And you’ll be long gone by the morning
Why don’t you stay?

I’d bring you breakfast in bed..
And blue Powerade to fix your head
from your night before
Cause God forbid that I was worth your Sunday morning sober

I don’t usually say this out loud x 2

But sometimes. I wonder

You only call me in the evening
You only call me when the daylight starts to fade
And you’ll be long gone by the morning
Why don’t you stay?

Why don’t you stay?
Why don’t you stay?
I’m always lonely in the morning
So, why don’t you stay?

I don’t usually say this out loud x 2

But sometimes. I wonder

You only call me in the evening
You only call me when the daylight starts to fade
And you’ll be long gone by the morning
Why don’t you stay?

(And not just call me in the evening..
And not just call me when the daylight starts to fade..
So lonely..)

Why don’t you stay?
Why don’t you stay?
I’m always lonely in the morning
So, why don’t you stay?

When you get lonely..
Don’t just call me..
When the daylight starts to fade..
I’m lonely so why don’t you stay..?
